WORKING TOGETHER WITH MARC.


I met Marc in 1998 at a friend's place.
After a while, he asked me to play guitares on the "kidappeurs"'s soundtrack album.
The main theme of this sountrack (called "The Kidnapper's theme") happened to be selected on the "Café del Mar (vol.6)" compilation. Then, it was used by Elia Suleiman in 2002, for the soundtack of his film "Intervention Divine".


Marc and I toured with Helena and Doriand around 1999.
I then played the guitars and basses on "Suburbia"'s album and "Les Pétrôleuses" (Marc's solo project, the following of "les kidnappeurs").
Recently, Fred Avril and Marc asked me to play the bass on Fred's second album "members only".


Sometimes, Marc asks me to play guitar on a piece of music and I can hear it later on a Volga Select or a Muriel Moreno track!
Our way of working together is very free.
Marc and I always start our studio sessions by listening to records.
For the last few years, we focussed on new wave records of the eighties (that explains partly the idea behind Nouvelle Vague).


Around february 2003, Marc called to tell me about an idea he just had: making bossa nova versions of great new wave tracks. I thought it was a tremendous idea.
We started to work on Nouvelle Vague's album soon after.

 


OLIVIER LIBAUX:


1990-1995:

  • Olivier creates the band "les objets" with Jérôme "Ignatus" Rousseaux.
    Les "objets", signed on Columbia, release 2 albums: "La normalité" (1991) and "Qui est qui?" (1994). They work with Michel Gondry for videos and tour.
  • In the same time, Olivier works with Dominique Dalcan ("Cannibale" album in 1993) and tour with him.


1995-2000:

  • Olivier works with Katerine, Helena, Arielle, Jean-François Coen, Dominique Dalcan, Doriand...as a guitar or bass or else (?) player.
  • Produces "Prudence" 1st album (Small/Sony)
  • writes the "fête des bébés" TV show's music (France 5)
  • Plays guitar on soundtracks: "Ma vie en rose" (Dalcan), "Tokyo eyes" (Jamaux) and "Les kidnappeurs" (Collin).


2000-2002:

  • Works on Suburbia, Les Pétrôleuses, Le Tone, La Grande Sophie's albums.
  • Writes the "Mythologies" documentary's music for Arte.
    also makes some jingles for France 3.


2003:

  • Olivier releases his 1st solo album "L'héroïne au bain" (a musical tale feat. Helena, Katerine, Lio, Dominique Dalcan, Doriand...) on french label naïve.
    plays with Carla Bruni, Emilie Simon, Lacquer...
  • records with Avril, Alex Gopher, Helena, Prudence.


2004:

  • releases Nouvelle Vague.
  • records with Bill Pritchard, Helena..

2005

  • Nouvelle Vague tour in 21 countries
  • records with Le Tone
  • records with Marc Collin for Nouvelle Vague 2
  • works with Prudence

2006

  • records his second album "IMBÉCILE" with Katerine,Helena, Barbara Carlotti, JP Nataf...(Discograph - out in october 2006)
  • Nouvelle Vague "bande à part" album release
  • release of Le Tone records : "En Inde"
  • plays with Dillinger Girl & Baby Face Nelson
  • on tour with NouvelleVague

2007

  • publishes his second album "IMBECILE" with Katerine, Helena, Barbara Carlotti, JP Nataf (Discograph - release in 2007)
  • release of Alex Gopher album (V2 february 2007)
  • release of Le Tone album "En Inde"
  • on tour with Nouvelle Vague
